Geoff Keighley addresses all-male Summer Game Fest line-up

Summer Game Fest organiser Geoff Keighley has addressed criticism levelled at the show over the lack of women on stage this year.

Speaking to Canadian broadcaster CBC, the industry vet said that it was a fair criticism of this year’s event, though he did add that actor Melanie Liburd, who plays Saga Anderson in the upcoming Alan Wake 2, was set to appear at the show. She had to pull out due to “scheduling conflicts”.

Responding to criticism that there was not enough diversity at an event by saying that one woman was intended to be on stage isn’t a great look now, is it.

“I think generally we do a pretty good job with diversity in our shows. That was something that’s a fair flag,” Keighley said.

“We also want to be authentic to the games that are being presented on the show and the developers that are making them. So yeah, I think we’re conscious of it.”
