Quantic Dream rolls out Spotlight publishing label
French games company Quantic Dream has unveiled a new Spotlight publishing label.
The venture was revealed at the Summer Games Fest and already has two titles in its stable – single-player hack-n-slash Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior and underwater adventure game Under the Waves.
Spotlight by Quantic Dream is providing services, including financing, production support, art and tech advice, as well as QA and localisation. That’s on top of marketing and comms.
“Quantic Dream is a video game development studio that has been making its own games for 26 years. Having gone through the process of producing and publishing titles many times, we know the many challenges a studio will inevitably face and how to overcome them to make a good game,” Quantic Dream CEO and head of publishing Guillaume de Fondaumière said.
“Spotlight by Quantic Dream is our way of highlighting the independent studios we believe in and of supporting their passion for their projects with all the expertise and resources of our own development studio and experienced editorial team. This label is also a guarantee of quality for gamers and the community that has supported us for many years: it tells them that we have carefully selected these games and supported the team that created them.”
This news comes in the wake of years of bad PR for Quantic Dream. Back in 2018, the company was accused of fostering a toxic working environment, which the studio has denied. Quantic Dream took two of three publications that reported on this for libel, winning against Le Monde.
The company previously said it was going to start self-publishing its own games, having previously relied on third parties.
