Sega increases staff pay by 30%
Games giant Sega is increasing staff pay by 30 per cent.
In a release to investors, the company said that from July 1st, 2023 workers would be seeing a rise of almost a third, meaning in compensation increasing by around 15 per cent for the year.
This appears to only apply to Sega’s Japanese staff. University graduate pay is rising 35 per cent, from ¥222,000 ($1600) to ¥300,000 ($2200).
Sega says that this is “in order to further stabilise employee income and create a more comfortable working environment, as well as to further strengthen its global competitiveness.”
The company continued: “We will continue our efforts to realise a system that allows our employees to grow while realising diverse work styles, and to provide further experiences that move the heart globally.”
Sega joins Nintendo, Capcom and Bandai Namco in increasing its worker pay.
