Ten Asian games markets will generate $41.4bn by 2026

The games market in ten Asian countries will be raking in over $41 billion by 2026.

That’s according to new research by Niko Partners, which says that collectively Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – the “Asia-10” – will generate $41.4 billion in 2026. That’s up from the $35.9 billion that they are set to make in 2022.

The firm reckons that the Asia-10 countries will boast 788.7 million gamers on PC and mobile this year, a figure that’s set to rise to 1.06 billion by 2026.

Of the Asia-10 countries, Niko Partners says that India, Thailand and the Philippines are the fastest-growing regions for revenue and the number of people playing games. Meanwhile, India has the second largest number of gamers in the world with 396.4 million. That’s 50.2 per cent of all gamers in the Asia-10 regions.

“In the face of a global macroeconomic environment that has led to slow economic growth, high inflation, lower consumer spending, and possible recession, we see gamers’ spending falling this year,” Niko Partners’ president Lisa Hanson said.

“That said, we are bullish on the games market in Asia, where gamers demand high-quality games, fair pricing, and are returning to in-person esports tournaments both as competitors and viewers.”
